LIFE ART STUDIO RULES OF ATTENDANCE
Photography Restrictions: Photography is strictly prohibited without the models consent. Artists may request to take reference photos of the model while they are robed or clothed. The convenor may request to take photos of the session in progress while the model is posing nude for purposes of session promotion. All photos where the model was nude at the time of the photo must be sent to the model for perusal prior to use. Do not take photos of the model if they have not given their consent (even if the model is clothed or robed).
Digital Device Usage: Phones must be put away and silenced while the model is nude. They may only be used during breaks. Tablets being used for drawing must have their lenses covered with a sticker or opaque tape. Digital drawing devices that have exposed camera lenses are prohibited as they pose a threat to the models safety and comfort.
Active Participation: If you attend, you must draw. No voyeurs allowed in the life drawing studio. If you have finished drawing or do not wish to draw a pose, politely look away from the model or draw something else in the studio.
Model Space Restrictions: Do not use the model's space at anytime - this space is strictly for the model only. Do not place anything in the models space that is not intended for their use. Maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from the model while they are nude. Do not approach the model or the modelling space while the model is nude. Touching the model or their space is only allowed with the model's permission.
Changing Perspective: You may change your view of the pose as needed, but do so quietly to avoid disturbing the model and other artists. Do not move your chair, table, or easel as this is highly distracting. Ensure to maintain distance from the model when moving around the studio.
Respectful Communication: Avoid sexually suggestive, aggressive, and disrespectful commentary. Socialising is encouraged, but stay focused on the artistic purpose of the session. While the art studio is a place for fun, please refrain from overly boisterous activity as this can be uncomfortable for the model and other artists. Action all reasonable requests from the model promptly without commentary.
Model Public Exposure: Do not expose the model to the public. This includes leaving the studio while the model is in pose if the door used opens to a public space. If you must leave a session early, notify the convenor and the model, and leave between poses. If you become aware of a privacy breach (e.g. the door is slightly open), fix it immediately.
Alcohol Consumption: Alcohol is permitted at some life art sessions - please partake in moderation. The use of illicit drugs is not permitted.
Pets: All pets must be kept on a leash when inside the studio. Noisy, boisterous, or disruptive pets should be removed from the session. Contact the convenor for permission before bringing your pets to the studio. Do not allow your pet to enter the models space.
Applause for the Model: At the end of the session, it is customary to applaud the model for their performance as a sign of respect and appreciation for their hard work. We encourage everyone to honour this custom.
Materials and Clean-Up: Do not use solvent in the studio. Collect all materials used at the end of the session and assist the convenor in packing up the space. Some sessions provide materials, other require you to bring your own. Contact the convenor for details.
Social Media Posting: If you upload your works online, credit the model (tag their preferred social media account), the agency (if model is represented), and the group you attended.
Booking A Model: If you are wanting to book the model for a project, provide them your contact details for follow up. Models represented by Elite Art Models Management can only be hired through the agency.
